I’m still having fun playing WoW Classic and enjoying some of my favorite raids before the new expansion comes out. Zul’Gurub was my introduction to raiding in wow all of those years ago. It was my first time figuring out how to play a healer and I will always remember those hours wiping on the Raptor boss trying to execute those mechanics.
Zul’Gurub is still worth running in every phase of wow classic
Zul’Gurub is one of those raids that people always want to run because this is where you get the best leg and helm enchants for most classes. If only the warlock enchant had +spell hit like the mage one does I would be ready to raid with the big boys. Here are the different enchants that each class gets from winning one of the 2 Primal Hakkari Idols that drop in each ZG.
ZG is also a great starting raid for new characters, and since I always seem to be leveling new characters this is a great place for me to spend my time. I have a new warlock that can still use several items that are huge upgrades. Besides the enchant and the gear upgrades I found another reason to run Zul’Gurub on my warlock.
How ZG benefits you in leveling up past 60
I rolled a new blood elf right when the original Burning Crusade was initially released, so preparing a character to dive right into Outlands is something new for me. I’m trying to see what I can do today that will give me an advantage in leveling once we are able to advance past 60. A few things that I am planning to do is collect some quests items that can be turned in for experience. The Primal Hakkari wrists, chest and shoulder pieces are frequently deleted in the ZG runs that I’ve been in. Since there is very little competition for these items I was able to pick these up on my warlock. These pieces of gear are not currently upgrades for me, so I will be waiting to turn these in until the start of Burning Crusade for a nice bonus of 6,600 xp each or 19,800 xp total. This will be one more bar of experience that I don’t need to fill once the Dark Portal opens.
WoW Classic is winding down while we wait for the Burning Crusade
I’ve noticed a big shift on my server since the announcement of WoW Classic: Burning Crusade last week. Prices on everything have been falling. There are not as many high level dungeon runs being done and several raiding guilds have called it quits. I’ve see a lot of players returning and leveling up characters that they plan to bring into the next phase of the game. We are all hungry for more information and for a beta announcement. I have my fingers crossed that this will be the first beta that I actually get to participate in for World of Warcraft (even though I opt in for every single one). I’m only a little salty…
In the mean time I’m doing what a lot of others are doing and leveling new characters and preparing my current level 60s for the next expansion which mean collecting items to turn in for xp and leveling up profession while the materials are cheap.
